CHANDIGARH: No matter the distance, true friends are the ones whose memories are always fresh, despite the years that fly by without any contact. With Friendship Day being celebrated on Sunday, city’s youngsters expressed how they would make it special.
Teenager Divya Jerath said, “When something good or bad happens, I pick up the phone to share the news with my close friend.
Every time I do this, it reinforces our eight-year-old friendship. Such friends are rare to find and she’s my best buddy. We were very naughty in school and college and can’t stop laughing each time we walk down memory lane.”
She added, “There have been so many times that I have been in trouble and she has been there.”
Talking about their comfort level, she said, “Without a word being said, we understand each other perfectly well.” Divya is planning to gift her friend a cuddly teddybear.
Another teenager, Raman Brara, said, “I don’t have to explain anything to my friend. She knows me well. When we are happy, the world is happy with us.”
She added, “True friendship is one where silence speaks a thousand words. It’s much easier to be with her as she?s known me since long. May be that’s why I sometimes take her for granted.”
For Raman, trust is the right foundation for friendship and it requires time to cement.
